Top must-play Golf Courses in the United States
I don’t hit the links like I used to. In fact, my most recent outing consisted of taking a pitching wedge to the course down the street at dusk and knocking a few balls around. Trust me, that is far cry from teenage summer days of playing 18 holes and then heading home to study classic VHS tapes of PGA champions, like Arnie Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez and Greg Norman, to help with my game.
It’s true, I don’t play like I use too. But that doesn’t mean I still don’t appreciate the game, especially the amount of work that goes into designing world-class golf courses. That is why I decided to pick my favorite American golf courses, because even though I don’t play, I can still dream. Below are my top three picks for the best American links for your golf vacation.
Torrey Pines Golf Course: North Course
The 18 hole regulation course at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, is one of the United States premiere golf course. The course, which was built in 1957, is ranked #8 in California.
Additionally, there is an equally impressive South Course bringing the total holes to 72 at Torrey Pines. One tip, though, if you want sunshine avoid Torrey Pines in May and June due to a heavy marine layer that fills the sky known as May Gray and June Gloom.

TPC of Myrtle Beach Golf Course
Want to play like your on the PGA Tour? That is what I thought! Then you need to check out TPC of Myrtle Beach in the sunny American South.
The course is designed by Tom Fazio and has hosted the Senior Tour Championship among other PGA tour events. With top-notch fairways and greens, you be testing your skills on one of the best courses in the United States.

Augusta National Golf Club
Augusta is one of the most famous golf courses in the world, in part because each year The Masters is played on its infamous greens. This challenging 18 hole course in Augusta, Georgia, opened in 1933.
Unfortunately, the real challenge of Augusta is just being allowed to play on it. The course is closed to the public and only members and PGA Tour players who are invited for The Masters have the right to play here. Though, there are some loop holes like caddy days and employee days, so if you are up for a challenge, you may just want to give Augusta a try.
