Putting: How to Make Every Putt
All golfers use their putter more than any other club in their bag, no matter what their handicap. If you follow some simple instructions and think a bit differently you can “make” 100% of our putts no matter how far or close you are to the hole. This approach will not mean you sink every putt but if you follow the instructions you will make every putt.
“Making” every putt is simple, let me explain. To “make” every putt you simply need to decide the speed of the putt and also the line of the putt and hit the putt on the line and with the decided speed. If you do this and the ball goes in great, but if it does not then you have simply chosen the wrong speed or line but the putt is still good or “made”.
Making every putt is as easy as following these steps.
1. Pick your line for the putt by studying the contours of the green.
2. Using the distance from the hole and the slope of green decide how hard you need to putt the ball.
3. Align the putt and take a few practice swings with the power you need to hit the putt.
4. When ready hit the ball on the line using the appropriate power and “make” the putt.
If you complete the steps above and you hit the ball on the chosen line with the right speed then this is a perfect putt and the putt is “made”. You have made the putt even if the ball does not go in the hole and you can confidently move onto the next hole or putt.
We all know that putting in golf is affected by our confidence levels so knowing you can “make” every putt no matter how far from the hole you are will keep your confidence levels sky high.
