Do you feel like your approach to the golf shot is just wrong before you ever make your backswing? What about all those slices and fat shots you’ve been hitting despite making great swings? If you are struggling with these types of issues odds are you have a faulty set up at address.

These issues don’t just come in the form of bad golf shots, but also in the form of physical problems. For instance, Roman Pardigm Therapy states that more than a third of golf injuries are lower back problems and stemming from poor posture. Specifically, most beginning golfers hunch over too much at the waist putting an enormous amount of torque and strain on the lower back. Tiger Woods’ ex-teacher Hank Haney in many of his books talks about the ideal degree angle bend is somewhere between 20 to 23 degrees.

If I were to guess, most beginners 39 degree angle towards the ball. How does this influence your golf swing? Primarily it will cause the swing to become far too steep which means the shaft of the club will never slot itself in the proper plane. To give you an example, a 8-iron swing becomes something like a lob wedge and a driver looks like an 7-iron. When the swing plane becomes too steep we tend to hit behind the ball and virtually lose all our power. Additionally, steep swings will also prohibit our arms from rotating over and closing the club face back up. This will cause our slices that we all fear as we approach our golf shots.

How in the world do we make our bad posture into a good one?

First anchor your club behind the ball to set up your stance

Second set your feet according to the shot you want to hit

Third is to ensure that our alignment is solid which means the knees, hips, shoulders and eye line are parallel to each other, you can use a club to check yourself

Fourth is to imagine bending your back from straight to forward about 20-27 degrees or one o’clock if you want to use some imagery

When you set up correctly with the proper posture, the golf swing can now go around your body instead of up and down which causes many of those shots you absolutely hate

This picture from Golf Magazine demonstrates what our posture should look like:

Are you a fairly inexperienced golfer? If you do not know how to play golf, you are not the only one! Your feelings are totally understandable, but the answers for them are in the following paragraphs. Continue on for some great tips on learning the fundamentals of golf.

Try making the next round more interesting by offering a reward. The reward could be a round of drinks, lunch, or even wagering based on each putt rather than the whole ending score. The prize doesn’t have to be huge to be a big motivation!

Don’t get wound up trying to find a stance that is unnatural. Try practicing your stance without a club in your hand. Stand with your knees slightly flexed and bent at the waist, let your arms fall in the front of you naturally. Then move your hands together, holding on as if ready to swing. The natural golf position is as easy as this. If it doesn’t feel comfortable, you may be overcompensating in some aspect of the position.

To get more out of a golf swing, don’t have over-active legs. It’s important to use your legs to shift your weight for power, but you can easily overdo it and detract from the distance that the ball travels.

Make sure that you are holding your golf club correctly before you swing. Place the handle on your palms, and point your thumbs down. Your hands should be touching. You can choke up on your club if you want to hit further.

Check with golf pros prior to buying new clubs. A professional should be able to help you with this important decision. They will have information on the newest clubs, and can help you choose a set that is a good fit for you.

Hopefully, we have covered some tips that allow you the chance to reshape your approach to golf in a way that truly improves your game. If you want to do well, you need to continuously pick up new ideas and strategies and take what you know to create your own style. Find out as much about golf as possible and shock everyone you know with your new abilities.

For anybody who is bored of golfing then you might attempt to play online flash games like Crafting in Swtor log on now!

When it comes to golf courses that are among the most challenging and unique in the world of golfers one set of links often comes to mind Pine Valley of Camden New Jersey. Historically since 1913, Pine Valley has set the example of tough yet challenging.

Yet there have been golfers among the mix who have remarked at the most challenging holes on this golfing course that perhaps they should take a photo of the hole rather than play it. This way at least they might have their memories, yet retain set of golf clubs and balls intact and in order. Never mind their poise and reputation on the golf links and fairways of their travels in the world of sport and recreation.

In one quick glance, the eager golfer saw a beautiful but forbidding hole and he reacted like many with glee.

Yet few leave this golf teeing grounds and bunkers without the staunchest admiration for the place.

There is no other golf course in the world just like the spread at Clementon, New Jersey. Its unusual design and large baffling greens have earned for Pine Valley, a subtitle and reputation of being among the worlds tough and toughest golf courses, virtually without dispute. No doubt such courses such as Glendale golfing course – “The Glendale” – does not hold a candle to it.

The club itself has been the source of much humor and dry humor at that in the golfing communities. It was repeatedly said by the very likes of the classic golfer Arnold Palmer that Pine Valley is not so tough if you can hit the ball straight, keep it out of the sand and putt reasonably well.

It can be said that you never forget your first love and you never forget the golf games played that you dreamt of or played out at Pine Valley Golf Club on the eastern seaboard of the US.

Its not the dream of every golfer to golf in a rustic golf course set in a rustic hunting and fishing paradise. Yet the designers and architects of the newly upcoming Lake Manitoba Narrows golf course have done just that – smack dab in the middle of the Manitoba inter-lake walleye fishing & hunting paradise. Just watch out for the mythical Nessie like lakemonster “Manipogo” on the links.

Tenerife and Fuerteventura are the two largest of the Canary Islands, set just off the coast of West Africa – and benefiting from an equatorial location with year round temperatures above 20 degrees. With balmy temperatures, sandy beaches and a dramatic range of volcanic landscapes, it is not surprising that the Canaries are one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. And with plenty of opportunity for bagging a bargain with late holidays, there’s also a wealth of activities to keep families occupied, some beautiful scenery, and of course some fantastic opportunities for total relaxation, the Canaries welcome holidaymakers throughout the year.

One particularly familiar site at airports throughout the Canaries is travellers collecting golf clubs from the luggage belts, for the islands are largely popular for golfing trips in the sunshine. Fuerteventura is home for four golf courses, with more being planned, or in construction. Courses include the 18 hole, par 70, Caleta De Fuste course, which is characterized by its three large lakes that threaten to disrupt play. Another popular course to be enjoyed on Fuerteventura holidays is Las Playitas, Tuineje, situated in the south of the island, and also home to a PGA Golf Academy, perfect for those looking to learn the art of golf from the start.

The Las Playitas course is tucked into a coastal bay, with pleasant temperatures cooled by a gentle sea breeze creating perfect golf conditions throughout the year. So too, the course boasts impressive – and arguable distracting – views over the Atlantic that make up for a poor round at any time. The course is particularly well tended, making for a spectacular eighteen holes. Fuerteventura’s bigger sister Tenerife is home to an impressive nine golf courses, each a different challenge, depending on your handicap.

These include Abama Golf, Golf Costa Adeje, and Amarilla Golf & Country Club. The Abama Golf course, for example, is set in the south of the island, around 20 minutes from the main resorts and with a sterling reputation as one of the finest golf courses in all of Spain. Designed by Dave and Mark Thomas, the course is par 72 and is exceptionally well looked after – 25,000 trees make the course alive with greenery, while beautiful shrubs add splashes of colour to the fairways.

There are also 22 lakes and a number of waterfalls, added to panoramas over the ocean: this is an extremely stunning way to spend your golfing days during Tenerife holidays. Golf lovers will be nothing but at home in the Canaries, with a range of courses waiting to be discovered – now it is just time to hold out until the last minute to secure yourself late holidays at prices as amazing as the golf courses themselves.

This week the PGA Tour makes its stop at the TPC Sawgrass for The Players Championship and ultimately you see shots like this approach the infamous 17th island green:

The 17th at TPC Sawgrass swallows up about 175,000 golf balls per year because honestly it’s hit the green or die. Hitting shots like this into holes that are surrounded by disaster are nothing new but scare the daylights out of most golfers. Why?

Well they are thinking more about the trouble surrounding the green rather than making their move into the ball. How do you play a shot like this? There’s no bailout anywhere to be found and one false move and you’re done for! Here’s how:

*I know you want to aim for the flag, but make sure you can make a mistake and still keep the ball on the green

*Aim For The Flag if the shot is advantageous for you

Think attack when it comes to point number three. No surrender, no worries, no counting penalty strokes before they happen just flat out eat that green up. You’ve paid a lot of money to play this course so why not have some fun with it? Get over that freaking ball and put a hurting on it and that island green!

The third point is one I want to emphasize and it’s something you see a lot with high handicap players. Just pick your shot, get over the ball and hit it. Simply telling someone to have confidence is easier said than done. If you’ve struggled up to that point, it’s ok….just do what comes naturally and take your most aggressive swing at the ball.

It’s your brain stupid!

Especially for shots like the aforementioned island green, our minds can either help us or harm us depending on what we let happen. Ultimately it’s up to us to make these shots work and all it takes is one decent not great swing. Now you know what to do, it’s just a matter of allowing yourself and your golfing brain to let it happen.

Not sure how to play Scary Golf Shots let’s do this!

Whether you are a professional golfer, or a completely beginner, it does not matter. The great game of golf challenges players of all skill levels. Before you sling your golf bag over your shoulder, read over the insights and advice of the following paragraphs for good ideas about golfing.

A lot of people think that you should move your ball around, but you should really keep it in one place. Keeping the same ball stance will keep your shots consistent, and your stance will become second nature. Change the position of your feet in order to alter the loft, instead of trying to chance the ball position. This helps you have a club that is appropriate in every situation.

Make the next round with your golfing buddies interesting by placing a little wager. Whether it is lunch or drinks, competing for more than just the best score will get everyone more excited about the game. Keep it inexpensive and friendly, just a little something to make the game more fun.

Always use the proper stance. If you do not think you are in the correct stance, you can test it by tapping your toes down and up and not moving your feet. If your stance is good, you’ll be able to move the toes without much effort. If you’re having a lot of trouble tapping your toes, you’re probably leaning too far over the ball. Conversely, if it’s extremely easy to tap your toes, you’re most likely leaning too far back from the ball.

Even if you are an ace golfer, you are going to hit some balls into the sand trap. Don’t worry about the mess you’re making in the sand until after your ball is safely on grass. Raking the bunker after you free your ball is important to keep the course looking nice for the next players. When you leave the bunker well raked after you are through, you give the golfers who follow you the ability to hit their ball from the sand more easily.

Try out tips like the ones you’ve just read above to help keep your game going as smoothly as possible. Employ what you’ve just learned here and you can continue to get better at golf, no matter how long you’ve been playing the game.

Golf basics-the all important golf grip. Taking the right grip on a golf club is one of the most vital golf basics you will ever work on. It is a major aspect of the setup to your golf swing, and to a great extent impacts the outcome of your shot. After all, your grip is the primary connection between you and the club! There are many different methods to take a grip, and all have their benefits and disadvantages. However, today I will be teaching you the three most popular ways of taking a grip on a golf club, and sharing with you a few essential tips and techniques for getting your grip perfect, including keeping a slight grip pressure, thumb position on the grip and the three fundamental sorts of grips golfers make use of, the ‘Vardon Overlap’ (a.k.a. the overlapping grip), the ‘Interlocking Grip’ and the ‘Ten Finger Grip’ (a.k.a. the baseball grip).

First off, let’s examine some simple tips and methods for your golf grip. These golf basics will allow you to build and preserve a sturdy golf grip to use, perhaps, for the rest of your life as a golfer. Maintaining a light grip pressure is perhaps the most important tip I can offer you on the topic of golf grips. This should be a primary concern, as excessive pressure or being exceedingly firm on your grip can cause an excess of difficulties, including a top, a slice or even a shank! Sam Snead once said: “Grip the club as if a baby bird were in your hand”. This light pressure, accompanied with the right placement of your palms on the handle, will give you the very best chance to produce longer, straighter shots.

Maintaining a light grip pressure is perhaps the most important tip I can offer you on the matter of golf grips. This should be a chief concern, as too much pressure or being too tight on your grip can cause an excess of difficulties, including a top, a slice or even a shank! Sam Snead once said: “Hold the club as if a baby bird were in your hand”. This light pressure, accompanied with the proper placement of your palms on the handle, will give you the best chance to produce longer, straighter shots.

Also, having your thumb in the right place once you have taken your grip is an additional key of golf basics, as doing this will prevent you from twisting your hand over or under the club, which is a primary reason of hook and slice for the majority of golfers. A great guideline to abide by is to imagine the club is a clock face, and keep your thumbs at 11 and 1 o’clock. Your thumb should also form a ‘y’ shape with the rest of the hand and the club.

The Vardon Grip, sometimes called the overlapping grip, is the most frequent grip used on tour and, is the grip most likely to be shown to you by a golf coach. To position your hands on the club employing the Vardon Overlap, take the little finger on the trailing hand and position it between the index and middle finger on the lead hand (for right-handed golfers, the lead hand is the left). The lead hand thumb should fit in the lifeline of the trailing hand.

The Interlocking Grip is the next most popular grip. It is common among players in the LPGA and has been used by such players as Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. People with small hands and weak wrists and forearms typically use this grip. To use the Interlocking grip, take the little finger on the trailing hand (the trailing hand for right-handed golfers is the right hand) and interlace it with the index finger on the lead hand. The lead hand thumb should fit in the lifeline of the trailing hand, as before.

The Ten Finger Grip, or Baseball Grip, is the least used grip among tour players. However, Beth Daniel, Bob Estes and Dave Parr have all made use of this grip. Golf instructors can often use this grip as a beginning, as it is simple to illustrate. To take the Baseball Grip, simply grip the club as you would a baseball!
